Beauty Spotlight : The Zit Zapper

Nowadays, there are countless skin care products available in the market. For every beauty need such as anti-aging, acne treatment, whitening, rejuvenation, etc., there correspond hundreds of brands and products to choose from. It sucks to admit, but the most effective ones are usually pricey.

We try not be be too adventurous when it comes to our skin needs. Harmful substances present in them are to be avoided. Not one of the manufacturers of those products will tell you the possible long-term bad effect/s they can do to your skin. It is a good practice to research about a product before buying it. Reviews by credible people are readily accessible on the internet. But keep in mind that each one of us has different skin type. What works for others might not work for you. So if you have any doubts, consult a dermatologist. As the cliche goes, “It’s better to safe than sorry.”

Beauty Spotlight is a section of our blog where we share beauty tips, product reviews and everything related to beauty or wellness, based on our experience. We are reiterating that we are not professionals when it comes to these things but merely beauty enthusiasts and careful consumers.

Our beauty secrets revealed!

The Zit Zapper - The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Oil

On the first sign of acne, I always reach for Tea Tree Oil and apply a small amount on where the acne is starting to appear. Give it overnight and *poof*…zit no more! Believe me or not but Tea Tree Oil has saved me many times from that bulging embarrassment during lunch dates, meetings, parties and events where I meet a lot of people. I discovered the wonders of Tea Tree Oil back in 2009 and it has yet to fail me. Studying can be very stressful and not having to worry about getting pimples from sleep deprivation is a big relief.

As of my last visit to The Body Shop, the 10ml bottle costs around 400 PHP. Don’t worry about the price because it lasts a very long time. The bottle is ergonomically designed to regulate the drops so you wont be wasting any of it on spillage. The one I have in the picture is half-full and it has been around since September 2011. See?! Totally worth it!

How to use:

1. Cleanse the area of blemish. Use your favorite cleanser to remove any make-up or dirt on it. Dry it up using towel or tissue.

2. Put 1 or 2 drops of Tea Tree Oil on a Q-tip. You can also use your fingertips but make sure that they are clean.

3. Apply directly onto blemish

4. Let it dry.

TIP : Use it twice a day - in the morning and at night (before you sleep)- for faster results.

Tea Tree Oil can also be used for bathing, facial steaming or inhalation, and  massage.

Trust me when I say it works like MAGIC! No wonder it has become one of The Body Shop’s bestsellers. I recommended this to my male friends and they got the same amazing result.
